Using Chinese bookbinding methods, this is a collection of photographs and mixed media printed into a conventional book form, taken during visits to China. The title lends itself to a phrase commonly heard by citizens, as opposed to any declarative authoritative statement on my behalf. I wanted to explore the narrative of travel photography through the curation of images and visual puns taken from Chinese and English (for example, top right; displays chicken feet from a market; chicken contains many metaphors in China, but it can also mean penis. This is positioned below a woman dressed as a Concubine; opposite is a massage parlour, which is officially illegal; however, workers would often stand outside and beckon men in, much like in a market. Likewise, the flower is universally symbolic of love and desire).
