'Reposed Wave' 2011
"Glass collected around my childhood coastal town, broken cut and assembled. Placed inside a fish tank that serves as a vitrine. A sensor above emits light onto the object when a viewer approaches. This was a 'stationed point' during my collecting/collection project.
Considering the words repose and repository as genealogies of 'collecting', which are related to a resting place; the museum display being an obvious reference in attempting to contain time. Following on from this, a personal collection emerged where the glass had its material and locational relations to the beach, but its origins cannot be fully returned, being already transformed indefinitely, like broken memories washed ashore in the present. The viewer effectively re-awakens this wave, a photograph momentarily capturing it"
